Özet

Introduction/objectives Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a common condition impacting quality of life by limiting daily activities. This study aimed to translate and culturally adapt the Knee Quality of Life 26-item (KQoL-26) questionnaire into Turkish and assess its validity and reliability in individuals with knee OA. Method The study included 182 patients with primary knee OA. Its comprehensibility was piloted with 10 patients and 10 healthcare professionals. Patients provided demographic and clinical information and completed the Short Form-36 (SF-36), Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), and the Turkish KQoL-26. SF-36, KOOS, and WOMAC assessed the construct validity of the KQoL-26. To measure test-retest reliability, the KQoL-26 was re-administered after three days. Results The KQoL-26 demonstrated high internal consistency with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.965. Subscale alpha values were 0.945 (physical functioning), 0.915 (activity limitations), and 0.903 (emotional functioning). Test-retest analysis revealed Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) values from 0.791 to 0.954 for items and 0.948 to 0.963 for subscales. The KQoL-26 scores correlated positively with SF-36 and KOOS and negatively with WOMAC (p < 0.001). Conclusion The Turkish KQoL-26 is a valid and reliable tool for assessing knee-related quality of life in knee OA patients.
