Comparative Analysis of NEET-Related Factors in OECD-Linked Countries: Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA)
(Sosyoekonomi Soc, 2023) Cizel, Rabia; Askun, Volkan; Durmaz, Serife; Yagmur, Ayten; Gursoy, Sergen
This study examined the NEET status of OECD nations using sociocultural variables and evaluated using a fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis method. Secondary data from reports, indices, and data banks were employed in this study. When all configurations within the study are reviewed, the NEET condition appears in nations with liberal or conservative policies, regardless of their development levels. The non-NEET condition emerges in highly developed countries with extensive social policy initiatives and socialist policies. As a sample protected by social programs, the government's comprehensive defences could only remove the NEETs.

Mixed-methods analysis of multidimensional conditions for the Human Development Index: a fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (FsQCA) study
(Springer India, 2024) Yagmur, Ayten; Gursoy, Sergen; Gunbayi, Ilhan
The aim of this study was to determine whether the conditions of origin (health, education, income) for the Human Development Index as well as the conditions of the Gender Equality Index, Corruption Perception Index, and Human Freedom Index created causal results. Various configurations of parameters were analyzed using set theory. Specifically, fuzzy sets qualitative comparative analysis (FsQCA) method was used. Using data from different databases for 2019, 143/147 countries were included in the study. As a result of the research, six most likely configurations for human development conditions emerged which are summarized.

The effect of job insecurity on job satisfaction by wage/promotion opportunities and motivation in gig economy and asymmetric analysis
(Springer, 2024) Gursoy, Sergen; Yagmur, Ayten; Uymaz, Ali Osman
The research aims to reveal the moderating effect of wage and promotion opportunities and the mediating effect of motivation on the effect of job insecurity experienced by employees in the gig economy, which is the equivalent of the current labor market, on job satisfaction. In addition, it aims to reveal all configurations of job satisfaction. With the survey data obtained from sample of gig workers, the structural model was first tested with PLS-SEM and then the asymmetric analysis technique was conducted with FsQCA. According to the first-stage results, there was no direct and significant relationship between job insecurity and job satisfaction in the gig economy. However, the relationship becomes significant when the moderating variables wage and promotion opportunities, and the mediating variable motivation are included in the research model. In the second phase, a total of fifty-one configurations and potential models emerged, which included relevant variables in symmetric and asymmetric contexts.
