Öğe Analysing the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) From the Perspective of Decent Work: A Comparison of the Pre- and Post-COVID-19 Periods(Wiley, 2025) Uymaz, Ali Osman; Arslan, Serdar; Celiker, Nuri; Gursoy, SergenThis study presents a novel approach to COVID-19 impact analysis, delving into the correlation between the pandemic and the unemployment/NEET (youth not in employment, education or training) rates, labour productivity levels and practices regarding basic employee rights of UN member countries and the SDG. It juxtaposes two distinct periods: pre-COVID-19 (2017-2019) and COVID-19 (2020-2022). The study also evaluates the sufficiency/necessity levels of condition variables on SDG for both periods and aims to provide country-specific inferences. The data obtained from three different databases were analysed using symmetric (PLS-SEM) and asymmetric (fsQCA) methods to ensure that the findings are complementary to each other in order to increase the validity of the research. The study's findings unveil a significant negative relationship between NEET and SDG in both periods, with the strength of the relationship intensifying during the COVID-19 period. Importantly, the absence of NEET was identified as the sole necessary condition for the presence of SDG. These findings hold practical implications for policymakers and practitioners and enrich the sustainable development literature.Öğe Comparative Analysis of NEET-Related Factors in OECD-Linked Countries: Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA)(Sosyoekonomi Soc, 2023) Cizel, Rabia; Askun, Volkan; Durmaz, Serife; Yagmur, Ayten; Gursoy, SergenThis study examined the NEET status of OECD nations using sociocultural variables and evaluated using a fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis method. Secondary data from reports, indices, and data banks were employed in this study. When all configurations within the study are reviewed, the NEET condition appears in nations with liberal or conservative policies, regardless of their development levels. The non-NEET condition emerges in highly developed countries with extensive social policy initiatives and socialist policies. As a sample protected by social programs, the government's comprehensive defences could only remove the NEETs.Öğe FORTY-FOUR YEARS OFA HOLISTIC PERSPECTIVE ON HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN LABOR RELATIONS(Univ Pedagogica & Tecnologica Colombia, 2025) Gursoy, SergenHuman Resources Management (HRM) is the department responsible for aligning individual efforts with organizational goals, enhancing labor productivity and achieving strategic objectives. Since the early 2000s, academic interest in HRM, a critical aspect of the modern workplace, has grown significantly. Considering the increase in interest for scientific research on HRM, the study aims to provide a holistic and up-to-date perspective on HRM studies. Given this increased scholarly attention, this study aims to provide a comprehensive and contemporary overview of HRM research. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using all HRM-related data from the Web of Science database between 1980 and 2024 via Biblioshiny function in Bibliometrix R package. Key findings point to a 16.7% annual increase in HRM research, averaging 9.14 studies and 22.81 citations per year. The cumulative number of studies in the field continues to rise, while the number of citations, although generally increasing, exhibits some fluctuation. The United States, China, the United Kingdom, and Australia are the most prominent countries of origin for researchers in this field. Our study offers valuable insights for future researchers through analyses of journals, authors, documents, and influential factors within HRM literature. Thematic maps derived from keyword analysis spotlight emerging areas, such as green HRM and environmental performance, which warrant further investigation. This research provides a comprehensive overview that can significantly benefit scholars in the field.Öğe Mixed-methods analysis of multidimensional conditions for the Human Development Index: a fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (FsQCA) study(Springer India, 2024) Yagmur, Ayten; Gursoy, Sergen; Gunbayi, IlhanThe aim of this study was to determine whether the conditions of origin (health, education, income) for the Human Development Index as well as the conditions of the Gender Equality Index, Corruption Perception Index, and Human Freedom Index created causal results. Various configurations of parameters were analyzed using set theory. Specifically, fuzzy sets qualitative comparative analysis (FsQCA) method was used. Using data from different databases for 2019, 143/147 countries were included in the study. As a result of the research, six most likely configurations for human development conditions emerged which are summarized.Öğe Multidimensional Analysis of Employment in the Digitalization Process: Bibliometric and Content Analysis(Maliye Bakanligi, 2022) Yagmur, Ayten; Gursoy, Sergen; Durmaz, SerifeThe aim of the research is to provide a broad perspective on digitalization and employment. For this purpose, it is aimed to determine the trends in the literature on digitalization and employment, to reveal country maps, to determine the breaking points and trends of keywords, to make cluster analysis for keywords and to make in-depth discoveries. For this purpose, content analysis of representative documents was made. Finally, according to the results of the content analysis; It has been revealed that there are worker, employer, public/state, labor market, human capital, demography, and business dimensions for digitalization and employment.Öğe The effect of job insecurity on job satisfaction by wage/promotion opportunities and motivation in gig economy and asymmetric analysis(Springer, 2024) Gursoy, Sergen; Yagmur, Ayten; Uymaz, Ali OsmanThe research aims to reveal the moderating effect of wage and promotion opportunities and the mediating effect of motivation on the effect of job insecurity experienced by employees in the gig economy, which is the equivalent of the current labor market, on job satisfaction. In addition, it aims to reveal all configurations of job satisfaction. With the survey data obtained from sample of gig workers, the structural model was first tested with PLS-SEM and then the asymmetric analysis technique was conducted with FsQCA. According to the first-stage results, there was no direct and significant relationship between job insecurity and job satisfaction in the gig economy. However, the relationship becomes significant when the moderating variables wage and promotion opportunities, and the mediating variable motivation are included in the research model. In the second phase, a total of fifty-one configurations and potential models emerged, which included relevant variables in symmetric and asymmetric contexts.
