    A SEM-Neural network approach for predicting antecedents of factors influencing consumers' intent to install mobile applications

    This chapter explores the present gap in the literature regarding the acceptance of mobile applications by investigating the factors that affect users' behavioral intention to use apps in Turkey. First, structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to determine which variables had significant influence on intention to install. In a second phase, the neural network model was used to rank the relative influence of significant predictors obtained from SEM. The results reveal that habit, performance expectancy, trust, social influence, and hedonic motivation affect the users' behavioral intention to use apps. © 2018, IGI Global.

    ACCESSIBILITY EVALUATION OF MOOCS’ WEBSITES OF TURKEY

    Massive Open Online Courses are emerged by the use of developing technologies for distance learning. With the aid of these systems, millions of people have an opportunity to attend academic lectures and obtain certificate. In recent years, most of the well known universities have supported these type of studies. Thus, number of open courses have been increased. In this study, specifically in context of Turkey, three most commonly used MOOC platforms evaluated the level of accessibility of localized MOOCs using automatic accessibility checking and provide some recommendations to improve its accessibility and usability.

    Accessibility, usability, quality performance, and readability evaluation of university websites of Turkey: a comparative study of state and private universities

    Today, the web constitutes an essential segment of higher education institutions. Using their websites, universities can effectively, efficiently, and satisfactorily provide information and services to their target groups, regardless of disabilities. As the number of disabled students in higher education rises, universities have to make the necessary design modifications to ensure web content accessibility. This paper presents an evaluation of accessibility, usability, quality performance, and readability aspects of all Turkish state and private university websites. The majority did not meet WCAG 2.0 accessibility criteria. Out of 110 state university websites and 69 private university websites, only 10 state and four private university websites attained conformance Level A. These results indicate low usability, quality performance, and readability that highlights the need for Turkish universities to devote more resources for making their websites more accessible, usable, high-quality performance, and readable for all their potential users.

    Adoption of e-government services in Turkey

    Owing to the rapid global growth in the internet and information technology, many governments around the world have transformed their services from the traditional services to electronic means. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the factors that enable end-user adoption of e-government services in Turkey. E-government web portal service level and service quality are critical factors that determine user’s adoption and continuance use. A research model is proposed and tested using data based on a sample of 242 individual e-government web portal users in Turkey. Results show that perceived usefulness and user satisfaction affects user’s adoption and continuance intention. Implications based on the findings of the study are discussed in term of egovernment web portal implementation.

    An analysis of customers' acceptance of internet banking: An integration of e-trust and service quality to the tam - The case of Turkey

    The aim of this chapter is to provide insights into the causal factor of people's internet banking acceptance. It endeavors to address a research need for extending the technology acceptance model (TAM) by adding contextual variables and its implication on e-customer satisfaction and e-customer loyalty. As trust and service quality has never failed to be a significant predictor in e-commerce research, this study proposes to integrate trust and service quality into the TAM to get a better understanding of e-banking adoption.     Banking websites in Turkey: An accessibility, usability and security evaluation

    With the proliferation of the Internet, banks are adopting technologies to create their own Websites. Websites have evolved into an excellent means of information dissemination and visibility. Hence banks and organizations around the world have websites as primary medium for information communication. The information in bank web sites, which are broadly assumed in numerous nations, must be accessible for all people, easy to use, exact and secure. Since the web is a significant assets of information for millions of people at all levels, attaining accessible e-banking services that enable customers to gain from them and execute varied customers’ prerequisites, regardless of time and location constraints, has become a global aim. The main aim of this study is to investigate the accessibility, usability and vulnerability of Turkish banking websites. A total of thirty two banking websites in Turkey were analyzed according to the criteria of the WCAG 2.0 guidelines, and all of them was selected for further analysis based on usability and vulnerability criteria. The results showed that the evaluated websites had significant number of accessibility, usability and vulnerability problems.

    Empirical Study on the Determinants of Social Media Adoption By Turkish Small And Medium Enterprises

    Social media has become a major issue for companies. Nonetheless, few studiesspecifically researched the determinants of social media adoption and the barriersagainst it, at a small and medium entreprises (SMEs) level aspect. This study addressesthe gap by focusing in furthering the theory in social media adoption at SMEs level.Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are not well equipped to use Social Media (SM)and struggle to utilise its full potential in the context of adding value to the business.The main aim of this study is to investigate the adoption and use of social media byTurkish small and medium enterprises, on the basis of Technology Acceptance Model(TAM), Network Externality, and Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT) models by addingthe related constructs. The research model is empirically assessed SMEs’ adoptionbehavior of the social media using a primary data set of 473 users of social mediagathered from a web-based questionnaire survey. Partial Least Squares (PLS) method isa variance based Structural Equation Model (SEM) used for the analyse of the data inorder to reveal the relationship of the attitudes of SMEs regarding social media and toevalaute the harmony of the model. The results demonstrate that the revised socialmedia model proposed in this study supports all the hypotheses of social media usagebehavior.

    Facebook/Meta usage in higher education: A deep learning-based dual-stage SEM-ANN analysis

This study has confirmed that perceived task-technology fit is the most affirmative and meaningful effect on Facebook/Meta usage in higher education. Moreover, facilitating conditions, collaboration, subjective norms, and perceived ease of use has strong influence on Facebook usage in higher education.     Leveraging organizational performance and innovation Via knowledge management strategies in Turkey: Evidence from the Istanbul Stock Market

    The purpose of the present study is to examine the relationships among knowledge management strategies (codification and personalization), innovation, and organizational performance in the Istanbul Stock Market businesses. Research suggests that knowledge management strategies are essential capabilities for effective innovation and organizational performance. Through analysis of surveys collected from 203 mid-level managers, the present model under the study was empirically tested using the Partial Least Squares (PIS) method for the model assessment and analysis of the relationships among constructs. Our results show that knowledge management strategies had a statistically significant and direct positive effect on innovation and organizational performance. Most outstandingly, the results indicate that knowledge management strategies had a positive and statistically significant effect on organizational performance through the partial mediation effect of innovation. Also, findings demonstrate a different effect of KM strategies on diverse dimensions of organizational performance. Conclusions of the present study may help academicians and managers in implementing knowledge management strategies for the purpose of enhancing the innovation, effectiveness, efficiency, profitability and in improving organizational performance.

    Performance evaluation of websites using entropy and grey relational analysis methods: The case of airline companies

    The revolutionary alterations and conversions occurring in information and communication technologies, have triggered an increase in the electronic commerce applications. Airline tickets are one of the most popular items purchased on the internet. The airline websites have become a big distribution channel for the companies to sustain their competitiveness. At this moment, the competition is increasing as airlines try to acquire and retain customers in the airline industry. To acquire and retain customers in such a highly competitive market, it is important for airlines to understand their relative levels of quality in terms of critical elements affecting their competitive advantages. In this study, an integrated two-stage multi-criteria decision-making techniques were used for the measurement of the performance of the airline websites using the Entropy Weight Method and the Grey Relational Analysis approach. The performance of 11 airline companies’ websites operating in Turkey was evaluated in terms of seven criteria. The data of quality website from airlines websites were taken more than 30 trails on various occasions on different periods of times. The data has been taken from 1 December 2016 to 31 December 2016. The weights of the attributes were calculated by Entropy Weight Method, the evaluation of the alternatives using the Grey Relational Analysis method were given ranking of websites. © 2018 Growing Science Ltd.     The accessibility, usability, quality and readability of turkish state and local government websites an exploratory study

    With significant development in Internet technology contributing to daily lives in nearly every aspect, it is important that government websites and e-government services offered through them are used effectively, efficiently, and satisfactorily. Achieving accessible, usable, qualified, and readable e-government services that enable citizens to fulfill different users' requirements by everyone involved in the target group, implying a lack of equality between disabled and non-disabled people in benefiting from online governmental services regardless of time and location constraints, has become a global aim. This study investigated whether the websites of the state and local level e-government in the Turkish Republic comply with prevailing standards of accessibility, heuristic usability, mobile readiness, performance and, the readability of website content with six different indices and whether these qualities depend on the type of the government websites. After examining 77 state and 247 local e-government sites, the results indicate that the Turkish government websites have made many of the accessibility, usability, quality, and readability mistakes as predicted. In light of the study findings, this paper will present some recommendations for improving Turkish government websites, as well as discuss future implications.

    The influence of knowledge management process supported with organizational strategies on organizational performance via organizational innovation and technology: The case of istanbul stock market

    In this chapter, the authors aim to investigate the impact of knowledge management and strategy configuration coherence on I?stanbul stock market businesses' innovation and organizational performance through a quantitative analysis carried out on a sample of 203 I?stanbul stock market businesses. This study also identified the relationship of organizational performance from the standpoint of the balanced scorecard, which includes the customer-related, internal business process and perceptual financial aspects of organizational performance in I?stanbul stock market businesses context. A survey was administered and a sample of 203 middle managers was analyzed using partial least squares (PLS-Smart 2.0) for inferential analysis and SPSS version 22 for descriptive insights. The results of the study revealed that business strategies influence the knowledge management processes fully or partially. Knowledge management processes influence the innovation partially. Innovation influences the organizational performance fully. Knowledge management processes and technology influence the organizational performance partially. Knowledge management processes, technology, and business strategies influence the organizational performance partially. © 2018, IGI Global.

    The most violated WCAG 1.0 guidelines by the developers of university websites in Turkey

    Universities utilize the Websites as primary medium for information communication. The universal accessibility of this web medium remains a major challenge for both web developers and accessibility researchers. Conformance of WCAG 1.0 guidelines by web pages is a significant factor in measuring universal accessibility. This paper focuses on the accessibility evaluation of 23 Turkish University homepages. The accessibility assessment was carried out to verify compliance with the WCAG 1.0 published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The main goal of this study is to determine if even people with disabilities can access and use websites of the universities with higher academic prestige. From the results, we can conclude that the majority of the tested websites do not achieve an acceptable level of compliance. Universities with high academic prestige do not show a greater level of web accessibility. By performing the evaluation of university websites, we have identified that there are major barriers to a large number of users. We identified and discussed the most violated WCAG. Our findings may raise awareness to the web developer about these violations and encourage them on how to build better and accessible websites.

    TÜRKİYE’NİN GSYH DEĞERLERİNİN YAPAY SİNİR AĞLARI İLE TAHMİNİ ÜZERİNE BİR İNCELEME

    Makroekonominin en önemli konularından birisi milli gelir analizleri ve bu analizlerin yorumlanmasıdır. Bu analizlerin iyi yorumlanması ekonomilerin gidişatı hakkında fikir sahibi olmamızı sağlar. Milli gelirin en önemli araçlarından biri olan Gayrisafi Yurtiçi Hasıla (GSYH) kavramı ülkelerin ekonomisi hakkında genel bir görünüm vermektedir. GSYH ülkelerin ekonomik büyüme ve ekonomik kalkınma düzeyleri hakkında bilgi sahibi olmamızı sağlayan bir ölçüttür. Bu değerler ülke içindeki yerli ve yabancı vatandaşlar tarafından üretilen tüm mal ve hizmetleri kapsadığı için önem arz etmektedir. Gelişmekte olan Türkiye ekonomisi için de bu hasıla değerlerinin yüksek olması ekonomisinin gelişmesine katkıda bulunacaktır. Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’nin GSYH değerlerini tahmin etmektir. Teknolojinin ivme kazanması ile son zamanlarda önemi daha çok artan yapay sinir ağı teknolojileri sayesinde birçok öngörü modellemesi yapılabilmektedir. Öngörü modellemesi ekonomik etkinlik ve milli gelir düzeyinin ölçülmesinde de kullanılabilmektedir. Bu bağlamda bu çalışmada GSYH’ ye etki edebilecek değişkenler seçilerek GSYH değerlerinin öngörülmesi amaçlanmıştır. Veriler 1998-2017 yıllarını kapsamaktadır. Bu çalışmada literatürde yer alan çalışmalar da göz önünde bulundurularak GSYH’ yi etkileyebileceği düşünülen hanehalkı tüketim harcaması-devlet nihai tüketim harcaması, ithalat-ihracat, sabit sermaye yatırımı-toplam yurtiçi tasarruf, brüt dış borç stoku-sanayi-üretim ve döviz alış-döviz satış kurları bağımsız değişken olarak belirlenmiştir. Modelin bağımlı değişkeni ise GSYH’ dir. Yapay sinir ağları (YSA) modellerinin geliştirilmesinde MATLAB R2013a programından faydalanılmıştır. 240 tane yıllık verinin %70’lik bölümü eğitim, %15’lik bölümü geçerlilik, kalan %15’lik bölümü ise test için rastgele ayrılmıştır. Öğrenme algoritması olarak Levenberg-Marquardt algoritması seçilmiştir. 2 ile 5 arasında gizli katman sayısı denenerek oluşturulan modelde en iyi sonuca gizli katman sayısı 5 olarak seçildiğinde ulaşılmıştır. 5 gizli katmanda R2=0,996140651, RMSE=19444911,6, MAE=15845918,2 ve MAPE=32,29791086 değerleri elde edilerek kurulan modelin kabul edilebilir olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca istatistiksel olarak gizli katman sayısı arttıkça modelin daha iyi sonuç verdiği görülmüştür. GSYH’ nin gerçek değerleri ile tahmin değerleri birbirine çok yakın çıkmıştır. Buradan Yapay Sinir Ağının tahmin gücünün yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

    TÜRKİYE’NİN İHRACAT DEĞERLERİNİN YAPAY SİNİR AĞLARI İLE TAHMİNİ ÜZERİNE BİR İNCELEME

    Yaklaşık iki buçuk asırlık bir geçmişe sahip olan ve dışa açık ekonomiler için büyük önem arz eden dış ticaret kavramı günümüz küresel rekabet ortamında ülke ekonomilerinin gelişmesi ve kalkınmasında kilit rol oynamaktadır. Dış ticaret işlemleri içerisinde ise özellikle ihracat önemli bir yer kaplamaktadır. Çünkü ihracat, ekonomik büyüme, döviz ve sermaye girdisi arasında itici bir güç bulunmaktadır. Çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’nin ihracat değerlerinin tahminin yapay sinir ağları kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmesi ve bu sayede literatüre katkı sunulmasıdır. İhracat bağımlı değişkeninin tahmini gerçekleştirilmek üzere gayri safi sermaye oluşumu, sanayi, tasarruf, kur, lojistik, gayrisafi yurtiçi hasıla, kişi başına düşen gayrisafi yurtiçi hasıla, ticari servis ihracatı ve mal ihracatı bağımsız değişkenleri seçilmiştir. 2002-2017 yılları arasındaki on altı yılı kapsayan toplamda 256 adet veri ile MATLAB R2013a programı kullanılarak yapay sinir ağları ile bir model kurulmuş ve analiz gerçekleştirilmiştir. 2-9 gizli katman ile yapılan denemeler sonucunda en iyi sonucun gizli katman sayısı 9 olduğunda ortaya çıktığı görülmüştür. Gizli katman sayısı 9 olduğunda R2=0,99, RMSE=3611616, MAE=2613313 ve MAPE= %45,14141 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular yapay sinir ağlarının Türkiye’nin ihracat değerlerinin tahmininde güçlü istatistiki sonuçlar üreterek başarılı olduğunu göstermiştir.

    WEB ACCESSIBILITY OF MOOCS FOR ELDERLY STUDENTS: THE CASE OF TURKEY

    Learning, eLearning and distance education has a significant function on the elderly for advancing well-being, which has indicated in the literature. In addition to this, e-learning provides an opportunity to become unified with the rest of society to older people. In this context, older people have extensive opportunities to raise the qualified life and enable lifelong learning and inclusion in learning communities by using Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC). The number of users over age 65 has more than doubled since 2000. Currently elderly users represent less than 10 % of MOOC users. Besides, the certain outcome of younger participants aging will raise the number of older people using the Internet the next decades. In this research, it is attempted to examine whether a MOOC-platform is accessible for elderly people. For this purpose, three MOOCs selected and were evaluated. The evaluation was carried out according to the Achecker. The results of the study showed that one of the investigated MOOCs met the overall criteria. And, there is no study has been carried out on the accessibility of MOOCs for elderly users in Turkey context.

    Yenilik Ekonomisi Üzerine Bibliyometrik Bir İnceleme

    Yenilik ekonomisi, yeni mal ve hizmetler üretmek için kaynakları ve zamanı verimli kullanmak sureti ile ekonomik faaliyetlerdeki değişimi hedef alan bilimsel bir disiplindir. Özünde bilim, bilgi ve teknoloji olan yenilik ekonomisi küreselleşme sürecinde atılan önemli bir adımdır. Bu çalışmada son 20 yılda gerçekleşen eğilim ve trendleri görmek amacı ile 2000-2019 yıllarını kapsayan dönemde yenilik ekonomisi alanında ekonomi kategorisinde bulunmuş olan 3509 adet çalışma bibliyometrik açıdan incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda Web of Science Core Collection veri tabanından ulaşılan veriler yıllara göre yayın sayıları, yayın türleri, yayın dilleri, atıf incelemeleri, ülke incelemesi, ortak atıf ağları ile kavram ve konu yönelimleri açısından çözümlenmiştir. Ortak atıf ağları, yazar, dergi, kurum ve atıf patlamaları ile kavram ve konu yönelimlerinin belirlenmesinde Sosyal Ağ İncelemesi kullanılmıştır. İnceleme sonuçlarına göre yenilik ekonomisi ile ilgili en fazla çalışmanın 2017 yılında yapıldığı saptanırken, atıf sayıları kapsamında incelendiğinde ise en fazla atıfın 2018 yılında yapıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Bu durum alana olan ilginin son yıllarda arttığını göstermektedir. Çalışmalar ağırlıklı olarak en çok makale türünde ve İngilizce dilinde yazılmıştır. Alan ile ilgili en fazla çalışma ABD’de yapılmıştır. En fazla atıf patlamasına sahip dergi Thesis, yazar ise ismi belirlenemeyen yazarlar dışında OECD olarak bulunmuştur. En fazla kullanılan anahtar kelime yenilik olurken, en çok çalışılan konu ekonomi kategorisinde gerçekleşmiştir. En çok çalışılan konu kategorisinde ise 2007-2010 yılları arasında mühendislik alanında patlama gerçekleştiği görülmüştür.
