Öğe Assessing acceptance of augmented reality in nursing education(Plos One, 2022) Uymaz, Pelin; Uymaz, Ali OsmanThe Covid-19 pandemic has negatively affected every aspect of human life. In these challenging times nursing students, facing academic and psychological issues, are advised to use augmented reality applications in the field of health sciences for increasing their motivations and academic performances. The main motive of the study was to examine the acceptance status of nursing students in implementing augmented reality technology in their education and training. The study is a quantitative research study, and it uses the causalcomparative screening method. The data used in the study was collected online from 419 nursing students. The hybrid method was preferred. First, the hypotheses based on the linear relationships were defined between the variables which were then tested by the method of structural equation modeling. Second, the method of artificial neural networks was used to determine the non-linear relationships between the variables. The results show that the nursing students have a high intention of using augmented reality technology as a way of self-learning. It was also found that the most emphasized motive behind this intention is the expectation that using augmented reality technology will increase their academic performance. They also think that AR technology has many potential benefits to offer in the future. It was observed that a considerable number of students already use augmented reality technology for its usefulness and with a hedonic motivation. In conclusion, nursing students have a high acceptance of using augmented reality technology during their education and training process. Since we live in a world where e-learning and self-learning education/training have become widespread, it is estimated that students will demand augmented reality applications as a part of holistic education, and as an alternative to traditional textbooks.Öğe COVID-19 salgını sırasında anksiyete, koruyucu davranışlar ve ilişkili faktörler: Kesitsel bir çalışma(Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat Üniversitesi, 2020) Kuru, Tacettin; Uymaz, PelinAmaç: Bu çalışmada COVİD-19 pandemisi sırasında Türk toplumunda anksiyete, kişisel koruyucu davranışlar ve ilişkili faktörleri incelemeyi amaçlanmıştır.Hastalar ve Yöntem: Örneklemimizi 18-75 yaş arası, okur-yazar, çalışmaya gönüllü 617 birey oluşturmuştur. Methods: A total of 37 cataract patients (18 males and 19 females) and 53 healthy participants (27 males and 26 females) under the age of 60 years were included in this study. The 25-OH vitamin D values were measured in all subjects and the mean vitamin D levels compared between the 2 groups. Additionally, the differences between the vitamin D levels of the genders in both groups were investigated. Results: The mean age of the study group was 48.1 ± 8.5 (range 33-59) years, and the mean age of the control group was 49.3 ± 7.8 (range 31-59) years (p = 0.48 and p = 0.83). The mean vitamin D level was 15.6 ± 8.4 ng/mL in the study group and 20.8 ± 7.1 ng/mL in the healthy subjects (p = 0.002). Among the females, the vitamin D level was 10.6 ± 4.7 ng/mL in the study group and 18.1 ± 6.4 ng/mL in the control group (p = 0.0001). No significant difference was found between the groups among the males (p = 0.24). Conclusion: We found vitamin D deficiency to be associated with early age-related cataract in a statistically significant manner. We believe it is worth investigating the reason for this concurrence with large longitudinal studies.Öğe Exposure to Occupational Accidents and Near-Miss Events of the Healthcare Workers During the COVID-19 Pandemic(2022) Uymaz, Pelin; Özdemir, MikailObjectives: Health institutions are considered high-risk occupational areas due to the need for human resources, including numerous specialists with distinct characteristics, intensive technology, and complex occupational processes. The purpose of this study is to examine the frequency of exposure to occupational accidents and near-miss events of the nurses and physicians working in hospitals, their reporting status, and factors affecting these characteristics during the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Methods: This descriptive study evaluating the occupational accidents and near-miss events of healthcare workers in 2020 was carried out between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2020. The questionnaire created over Google Forms was shared through social media groups (WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.) of the healthcare workers in Turkey. The data collection form consisted of four sections, which assess sociodemographic characteristics, history of employment, characteristics of occupational accidents, and near-miss events of the healthcare workers. Results: A total of 225 healthcare professionals, with a mean age of 35.2±8.5 years, 156 (69.3%) female and 163 (73.8%) doctors, participated in this study and 101 (44.9%) healthcare workers declared that they experienced a work accident and 84 (37.3%) healthcare workers reported near-miss events; however, only 14 (13.9%) healthcare workers reported this accident to their institution during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: Every occupational accident or near-miss event experienced by healthcare professionals should be reported and analyzed carefully to prevent potential risks. Training health professionals about health risks they may encounter and protective measures against occupational accidents have vital importanceÖğe Kendi Kendine Uygulanabilen Yaşlı İstismarı Şüphe Ölçeğinin Türk Yaşlı Örneğinde Geçerlik ve Güvenirliği(2021) Uymaz, Pelin; Özdemir, MikailAmaç: Bu çalışma, Kendi Kendine Uygulanabilen Yaşlı İstismarı Şüphesi Ölçeğinin geçerlilik ve güvenilirlik bakımından incelenerek, Türkçe uyarlamasının yapılması amacı ile yürütülmüştür. The study group consisted of 400 students enrolled in different departments of a public university. The Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Version and the Young’s Internet Addiction Test-Short Form were used for criterion validity. For the internal consistency of the scale, the Cronbach’s alpha was calculated. Five items were removed from the questionnaire due to high covariance error in the items loaded into different factors. The new 23-item scale consisted of 6 factors with acceptable goodness-of-fit values. (?2/df = 2.83, root mean square error of approximation = 0.06, Comparative Fit Index = 0.90, Goodness of Fit Index = 0.87, Incremental Fit Index = 0.90). For the total score of the scale, the Cronbach’s alpha was 0.93 and test– retest reliability coefficient was .79. (p < .001). The total item correlation was found to be between .386 and .768. The Turkish Smartphone Overuse Screening Questionnaire showed a positive correlation with both the Young’s Internet Addiction Test-Short Form and the Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Version. The results indicate that the Smartphone Overuse Screening Questionnaire can be used as a valid and reliable scale by both researchers and practitioners while examining problematic smartphone use .
