Öğe Analysing the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) From the Perspective of Decent Work: A Comparison of the Pre- and Post-COVID-19 Periods(Wiley, 2025) Uymaz, Ali Osman; Arslan, Serdar; Celiker, Nuri; Gursoy, SergenThis study presents a novel approach to COVID-19 impact analysis, delving into the correlation between the pandemic and the unemployment/NEET (youth not in employment, education or training) rates, labour productivity levels and practices regarding basic employee rights of UN member countries and the SDG. It juxtaposes two distinct periods: pre-COVID-19 (2017-2019) and COVID-19 (2020-2022). The study also evaluates the sufficiency/necessity levels of condition variables on SDG for both periods and aims to provide country-specific inferences. The data obtained from three different databases were analysed using symmetric (PLS-SEM) and asymmetric (fsQCA) methods to ensure that the findings are complementary to each other in order to increase the validity of the research. The study's findings unveil a significant negative relationship between NEET and SDG in both periods, with the strength of the relationship intensifying during the COVID-19 period. Importantly, the absence of NEET was identified as the sole necessary condition for the presence of SDG. These findings hold practical implications for policymakers and practitioners and enrich the sustainable development literature.Öğe Assessing acceptance of AI nurses for outpatients with chronic diseases: From nurses’ perspective(Asia Pacific Academy of Science Pte Ltd, 2024) Uymaz, Ali Osman; Uymaz, Pelin E.; Akg?l, YakupThe primary objective of this article is to investigate and forecast nurses’ attitudes toward using AI nurses for outpatients with chronic diseases. AI technology is used in hospitals in a disease-centric manner. However, it is desired by healthcare regulators to be used in an individual-centric and holistic manner. The research model was developed based on the Unified Theory of Accepting and Using Technology. In determining the causes and consequences of the attitudes, actions, ideas, and beliefs of the nurses, the screening technique of causal comparison was used. Research data was collected from registered nurses who work in research hospitals and use intelligent health technologies for inpatients. Based on 494 responses, this study conducted a dual-phase assessment using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling as well as the creation of an AI method known as deep learning (artificial neural network). According to the results, nurses are convinced that AI is a suitable tool for their nursing tasks and increases their efficiency and productivity. It has been determined that nurses have intentions to use AI nurses for outpatients with chronic diseases. However, nurses have concerns about the reliability of ambulatory patient data. The policies and strategies of regulators will affect the acceptance of AI technology, not only for nurses but for all healthcare professionals and patients. © 2024 by author(s). Ltd.Öğe Assessing acceptance of augmented reality in nursing education(Plos One, 2022) Uymaz, Pelin; Uymaz, Ali OsmanThe Covid-19 pandemic has negatively affected every aspect of human life. In these challenging times nursing students, facing academic and psychological issues, are advised to use augmented reality applications in the field of health sciences for increasing their motivations and academic performances. The main motive of the study was to examine the acceptance status of nursing students in implementing augmented reality technology in their education and training. The study is a quantitative research study, and it uses the causalcomparative screening method. The data used in the study was collected online from 419 nursing students. The hybrid method was preferred. First, the hypotheses based on the linear relationships were defined between the variables which were then tested by the method of structural equation modeling. Second, the method of artificial neural networks was used to determine the non-linear relationships between the variables. The results show that the nursing students have a high intention of using augmented reality technology as a way of self-learning. It was also found that the most emphasized motive behind this intention is the expectation that using augmented reality technology will increase their academic performance. They also think that AR technology has many potential benefits to offer in the future. It was observed that a considerable number of students already use augmented reality technology for its usefulness and with a hedonic motivation. In conclusion, nursing students have a high acceptance of using augmented reality technology during their education and training process. Since we live in a world where e-learning and self-learning education/training have become widespread, it is estimated that students will demand augmented reality applications as a part of holistic education, and as an alternative to traditional textbooks.Öğe Assessing the Behavioral Intention of Individuals to Use an AI Doctor at the Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Care Levels(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2024) Uymaz, Pelin; Uymaz, Ali Osman; Akgul, YakupThe study examines the behavioral intention to use an AI doctor at the individual level at primary, secondary, and tertiary care levels. The research model has been designed according to the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology to understand the acceptance and use of an AI doctor at the individual level. The causal comparison screening approach, which is used to identify the causes and effects of people's attitudes, behaviors, ideas, and beliefs, has been employed. This study utilized a hybrid analysis methodology combining two-phase analysis using partial least squares structural equation modeling and evolving artificial intelligence named deep learning (Artificial Neural Network) on 432 usable responses. The first step was using structural equation modeling to examine the hypotheses; then the nonlinear interactions between the variables have been examined using an artificial neural network. According to the analysis results, perceived task-technology fit, perceived privacy, performance expectancy, and social influence constructs affecting the intention to use an AI doctor in primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of care are the main constructs. A strong behavioral intention exists at all levels of healthcare, primary, secondary, and tertiary, to use an AI doctor for individual-level healthcare.Öğe Beklenen Güven Ölçeği Türkçe Uyarlaması: Geçerlilik ve Güvenilirlik Çalışması(2021) Uymaz, Ali OsmanBu çalışmanın amacı Beklenen Güven Ölçeğinin Türkçe uyarlamasını,geçerlilik ve güvenilirlik analizlerini yapmaktır. Metodolojik çalışmanınörneklemini 412 yetişkin birey oluşturmuştur. Ölçeğin Türkçeye uyarlaması;çeviri, geri çeviri, uzman görüşlerinin alınması, ölçeğin oluşturulması, ilktest ve sonrasında yeniden test verilerinin toplanması aşamalarındanoluşmuştur. Ölçek geçerlilik analizi için kapsam geçerlilik katsayısıhesaplanmış, yapı geçerliliği için doğrulayıcı faktör analizi ve madde ayırtedici gücü analizi yapılmıştır. Ölçek güvenilirliği için toplam ölçek ve altboyutlarının iç tutarlılık göstergesi Cronbach alfa değerleri, zamana göredeğişmezlik özelliği için t testi ile ilk ve yeniden test puanları üzerinden grupve boyut düzeyinde karşılaştırma değerleri ve sınıf için korelasyonkatsayıları hesaplanmıştır. Doğrulayıcı faktör analizi sonucu 15 maddedenoluşan ölçeğin tüm maddeleri korunmuştur. Ölçeğin Türkçe uyarlamasınınkapsam geçerlilik katsayısı 0.98 olarak bulunmuştur. Ölçeğin Cronbach alfadeğeri tüm ölçek için 0.765, beklenen art niyet boyutunun aritmetikortalaması 3.63, standart sapması 0.65, sınıf içi korelasyon katsayısı 0.974,Cronbach alfa değeri 0.814; beklenen iyi niyet boyutunun ise aritmetikortalaması 3.34, standart sapması 1.06, sınıf içi korelasyon katsayısı 0.927,Cronbach alfa değeri 0.725 bulunmuştur. Beklenen art niyet ve beklenen iyiniyet açısından katılımcılar değerlendirildiği zaman art niyet beklentisinindaha güçlü olduğu tespit edilmiştir. The study was designed as a quali-tative study where data was collected from a sample of 13 Bitcoin miners. The collected data was analyzed and coded thorough thematic analysis. After determining each participant's profile, a narrative analysis was conducted to ensure the integrity of the research. Some of the key common characteristics determined were awareness, arbitrage, and high-profit expectations, whereas the self-manipulation feature was determined to be low. The key motivation for Participants for investing in Bitcoin was the absence of central management, the beginning of a new financial structure outside the exist-ing system, the opportunity for absolute privacy, and the excessive interest of society, which would serve as a leverage for arbitrage, with high profit expectation. With their increased level of awareness and knowledge, Bitcoin miners saw the opportunity for arbitrage. The research is designed in accordance with the causal-comparative method. Affective commitment is defined in the research model as the mediating variable with normative commitment, continuous commitment, and performance bonus as the moderating variables. The research data have been collected from hotel employees (n = 362) who are directly in contact with customers. The analyses have been performed using Smart PLS 3.9. According to the results, no relationships have been found for democratic, autocratic, and laissez-faire leadership styles with UPB. The mediating variable of affective commitment has been found to have no significant effect on the relationship between leadership styles and UPB. The independent variable of normative commitment has been found to be positively correlated with UPB at a significance level of p < 0.05. However, it was not found have any moderating effect as a moderating variable on the relationship between leadership styles and UPB. No significant relationship has been found for continuance commitment either as an independent variable or as a moderating variable. Deprem bu doğal kaynaklı kriz durumlarından bir tanesidir ve Türkiye’de 06.02.2023 tarihinde Büyük Kahramanmaraş depremi meydana gelmiştir. Bu doğrultuda çalışmanın amacı 06.02.2023 Kahramanmaraş depreminde hastane-hastane gruplarının sağlık turistlerine yönelik kriz algısını ve iletişim yöntemini incelemektedir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma durum çalışması deseni benimsenerek veri toplama tekniği olarak doküman incelemesi kullanılmış olup, veri analiz tekniği olarak içerik analizi tercih edilmiştir. Örneklem grubunu ise Türkiye’de Joint Commission Certificate sertifikasında sahip 22 hastane ve hastane gruplarının 06.02.2023 - 06.03.2023 tarihleri arasında Kahramanmaraş depremi ile ilgili web sitesi ve sosyal medya (facebook, instagram, twitter, linkedin) paylaşımları oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma sonucunda “Deprem Yaralanma ve Hastalıkları” ve ”Deprem Psikolojisi” içerikli iki tema, “Depremde Yardım”, “Depremde Hijyen”, “Depremde İletişim” ve “Geçmiş Olsun ve Başsağlığı” içerikli dört kategori keşfedilmiştir. Çalışmanın asıl amacı olan sağlık turistlerine yönelik ise herhangi bir bulgu elde edilememiştir. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda hastane-hastane grupları için politika aracı olarak bazı teorik ve pratik çıkarımlarda bulunulmuştur.Öğe Pisidia Bölgesi Kent Hastaneleri Kalite Sistemi Alğısının Sağlık Turizmi Üzerine Etkilerinin Değerlendirilmesi(2021) Dağ, Erhan; Uymaz, Ali OsmanSağlık turizmi hastaları tedavi olmak için kendi ülkelerinden başka ülkelere seyahat etmek suretiyle şifa aramasına denilmektedir. Son dönemlerde yurtdışından çok sayıda turistin sağlık turizmi kapsamında ülkemize tedavi olmak amacıyla ziyarette bulunmaktadır. Ülkemizde sağlık turizmi hizmeti veren şehirlerin sayısının arttırılması ülke ve bölge ekonomisine olumlu katkı sağlayacaktır. Pisidia bölgesi tarihi ve doğal güzellikler açısından turizmde ilgi odağı olan bölgedir. Turizm alanlarının çeşitlendirilmesi açısından bölgede sağlık turizmi hizmetlerinin yaygınlaştırılması yurtdışından çok sayıda ziyaretçinin bölgeyi tercih etmesine sebep olacaktır. Bu çalışmada, Pisidia bölgesi şehirleri olan Burdur Isparta İllerinde sağlık turizmi açısından hastanelerin kalite ölçeklerinin değerlendirilmesi ve sağlık turizminin etkilerine yönelik tutumun değerlendirilmesine yöneliktir. Çalışmanın amacı bölgede sağlık turizmine yönelik hizmetlerin verilmesinin ekonomik, sosyo-kültürel ve çevresel etkilerini değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Sonuç olarak bölgedeki hastanelerin kalite ve sağlık turizmi etkileri değerlendirildiğinde, sağlık turizminin yaygınlaşmasının bölgeye ekonomik, sosyo-kültürel ve çevresel etkiler anlamında olumlu katkı sağlayacağı ortaya çıkmıştır. Yapılan araştırmada kent hastaneleri kalitesinin sağlık turizmine; ekonomik, sosyo-kültürel ve çevresel faktörlerin olumlu etkileri üzerine kurulan hipotezler desteklenmiştir. Kent hastaneleri kalitesinin sağlık turizmine; ekonomik, sosyo-kültürel ve çevresel faktörlerin olumsuz etkileri üzerine kurulan hipotezler desteklenmemiştir.Öğe READING FOLLOWER TYPOLOGIES WITHIN THE SCOPE OF LEADER-MEMBER INTERACTION THEORY THROUGH A MOVIE: "DIE WELLE"(Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi, 2024) Özer, Hatice Uzboyalı; Uymaz, Ali OsmanLeader-member interaction theory is an approach that emphasizes the importance of followers and focuses on the relationship between the leader and the follower, as opposed to approaches that focus on the leader. Within the framework of leader-member interaction theory, various models have been created to classify followers. In this study, follower behaviors were analyzed through the film according to the leader-member interaction theory. In the analysis of this film, the aim was both to evaluate the behavior of the characters in the context of follower typologies, and to present the relationship between the leader and the follower, linking them to the theories that focus on this relationship by including excerpts from scene sections. The presence of important scenes in the film that involve follower and leader behaviors was considered appropriate for the study. From the readings conducted, 16 scenes were identified that presented the behaviors of leaders and followers. It is predicted that the study will contribute to the literature by reading these scenes in the context of leader-follower interaction and associating them with typologies. In addition, it is believed that the Die Welle is an appropriate educational material in terms of presenting to the audience in a concrete way the behaviors of followers toward the leader and the behaviors shaped by the leader toward the followers. In addition, it aims to reveal all configurations of job satisfaction. With the survey data obtained from sample of gig workers, the structural model was first tested with PLS-SEM and then the asymmetric analysis technique was conducted with FsQCA. According to the first-stage results, there was no direct and significant relationship between job insecurity and job satisfaction in the gig economy. However, the relationship becomes significant when the moderating variables wage and promotion opportunities, and the mediating variable motivation are included in the research model. In the second phase, a total of fifty-one configurations and potential models emerged, which included relevant variables in symmetric and asymmetric contexts.Öğe The Factors Influencing the Public Procurement Organization Structures of Countries: An Analysis on European Union(Maliye Bakanligi, 2021) Turhan, Mirac Savas; Uymaz, Ali OsmanThe study focused on the reflections of the centralization/decentralization debate, which is one of the main issues in organizational analysis, in the framework of public procurement, which constitutes an important function of public administration. In this context, as the dependent variable, the public procurement organization structures seen in the EU member, candidate, potential candidate, former candidate and former member countries and as independent variables that are thought to affect them, national cultural dimensions, international transparency/corruption perceptions index, per capita national income, population, the width of the country's territory, population density, doing business and logistics performance indices were analyzed. The findings indicate the effects of power distance and indulgence-restraint dimensions, transparency/corruption perceptions, per capita national income, population and logistics performance factors on shaping the public procurement organization structures of countries.Öğe THE INFLUENCE OF TRAIT ANXIETY ON CAREER SELF-MANAGEMENT AND THE MODERATOR EFFECT OF STATE ANXIETY ABOUT LAYOFFS DUE TO COVID 19 PANDEMIC AMONG WHITE-COLLAR EMPLOYEES(Asean Federation Psychiatry & Mental Health, 2022) Uymaz, Ali OsmanThis study aims to contribute to the literature on sustainable careers by studying the effect of t-anxiety on the career self-management dimensions which are Personal Mastery (PM), Verbal Persuasion (VP), and Vicarious Learning (VL), and the moderator affect of s-anxiety about layoffs due to COVID 19 pandemic on these relationships. The causal comparison screening approach was adopted. Hypotheses were investigated by the SEM method. The research data were collected online from 365 white-collar employees between July 1, and August 30, 2021, using a simple random sampling approach. The purpose of collecting the data between these dates was that the ban on lying off the employees due to the COVID 19 pandemic has been lifted on June 30, 2021. Empirically, a negative and significant relationship was found between t-anxiety and PM. It was also found that positive and significant relationships exist between t-anxiety and VP and VL. A negative relationship between s-anxiety about layoffs due to COVID 19 pandemic and PM was determined. S-anxiety about layoffs due to COVID 19 pandemic has been found to have moderating negative effect on the relationships between t-anxiety and VP and VL. High levels of anxiety (both for t-anxiety and s-anxiety) affect PM negatively whereas low levels of anxiety strengthen it. PM gets weaker in anxious individuals, while VP and VL get stronger. Because of the s-anxiety about layoffs due to COVID 19 pandemic white-collar professionals are likely to face a career shock, resulting in unsustainable trajectories.Öğe The shift from disease-centric to patient-centric healthcare: Assessing physicians’ intention to use AI doctors(Asia Pacific Academy of Science Pte Ltd, 2024) Uymaz, Ali Osman; Uymaz, Pelin E.; Akg?l, YakupThis study examines physicians’ attitudes toward the intention to use AI doctors in healthcare. Currently, physicians use smart health technologies, health data, and AI in disease-focused research hospitals, and industry regulators hope that AI technology will be extensively used for each person, which means a shift from disease-centric to individual-centric healthcare. Using the theory of technology acceptance and use, a research model was developed to understand physicians’ intentions to use AI doctors for data collection, diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient follow-up. The causal comparison screening technique was used to determine the causes and consequences of physicians’ attitudes, behaviors, ideas, and beliefs. The responses of 478 physicians were evaluated using structural equation modeling and deep learning (an artificial neural network). It was discovered that physicians intend to use AI doctors first for diagnosis and treatment planning, and then for data collection and patient follow-up. According to the findings, the main constructs are performance expectancy, perceived task technology fit, high-tech habits, and hedonic motivation. © 2024 by author(s).
