Öğe Undiferentiated Patient in Family Medicine: Acute Deep Vein Thrombosis- A Case Report(Kayseri Şehir Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, 2025) Etlik, Naciye Dereli; Taştan, KenanVenous thromboembolism is an important cause of mortality and morbidity. Acute deep vein thrombosis is difficult to evaluate and diagnose in the outpatient clinic. The condition may be asymptomatic or may cause symptoms such as pain, swelling and redness in the extremities in the acute phase. Sometimes deep vein thrombosis can be diagnosed by progression of the thrombus causing secondary embolism. Blood tests and imaging should be performed in case of suspicion with clinical examination, and for definitive diagnosis. Doppler ultrasonography should confirm loss of vein compressibility and a differential diagnosis should be made for symptoms. Anticoagulant treatment should be initiated immediately upon diagnosis. Early diagnosis and correct treatment prevents the occurrence of pulmonary embolism, which is a fatal complication, and recurrences, which are other serious complications, at a very high rate. Symptom clusters and diseases that have not been previously assessed, categorized and diagnosed by a doctor are called undifferentiated patients/diseases. In this article, we present an undifferentiated patient who presented to our outpatient clinic with leg pain and was diagnosed with acute deep vein thrombosis and treatment was initiated in the early period thanks to a comprehensive approach.
