Attitudes of Aviation Employees During the Pandemic Period

This research is about the pandemic attitudes of employees in the aviation industry, which is one of the most affected sectors by the Covid 19 pandemic. In this context, it was aimed to determine the effect of covid induced anxiety of aviation employees on burnout and turnover intention and the mediating role of paternalistic leadership in the relationship between these variables. The universe of the research consists of aviation employees working in Istanbul. Quantitative research was conducted to determine the relationships between the variables, and the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach was adopted to test the hypotheses. As a result of the hypothesis tests, it was determined that covid-19 anxiety has a positive and significant effect on burnout, turnover intention and paternalistic leadership. In addition, it was found that the perception of paternalistic leadership had a negative and significant effect on burnout and turnover intention. Another finding of the study was that paternalistic leadership has partial mediation effect on the relationship between Covid-19 induced anxiety, turnover intention and burnout.
