Electromagnetic Field Levels and Occupational Exposure Analysis in Solar Power Plants

The increase in the need for electrical energy has led to the development of production technologies in this mentioned field and the condensation of both human health and environmental impacts and studies related to these technologies. In this study, the magnetic field levels were measured in a solar power plant located far from the settlement areas and the measurements of the vicinity of the different magnetic field sources results were presented. The measurements were carried out under load in a solar power plant in Elmalı, Antalya. Magnetic field measurements were performed around the transformer, on photovoltaic panels and in front of the inverter. When the measured magnetic field levels are examined, approximately 0.19 µT was observed in front of the panels, while 2.2 µT was obtained in front of the inverter. Also it reached 7.95 µT around the transformer kiosk. The results were evaluated in the light of the exposure limits to electromagnetic fields published by international organization. In this way, the electromagnetic risk assessment of the solar panels was carried out.
