Comparison of bioactive components, antimicrobial and antimutagenic features of organically and conventionally grown almond hulls
(Springer, 2020) Murathan, Zehra Tuğba; Kaya, Armağan; Erbil, Nurcan; Arslan, Mehmet; Diraz, Emel; Karaman, Şengül
In Turkey, almonds are grown via the following three methods: organic (O), conventional (C) and good agricultural practice (GAP). Almond seeds are mostly consumed as nuts; thus, the researchers have focused different analyses on only seeds. However, in Turkey, unripe green almond hulls are also consumed. Therefore, we studied the contents of some bioactive components, pigments, and malondialdehyde (MDA) and the antimicrobial, antioxidant, and antimutagenic activities of O, C, and GAP 'Ferradual' (Frd) and 'Ferragnes' (Frg) almond hull extracts. The highest total ascorbic acid content was found in O Frd (2.1mg/g fresh weight [FW]) and GAP Frg (2.0mg/g FW). The total phenolic content and total flavonoid content in all the genotypes ranged from 19.2 and 43.9mg/g FW and 3.2 and 20.2mg/g FW, respectively. In general, the antioxidant activity of C Frg and C Frd was low. C Frg had the highest MDA content (8.53 mu mol MDA/g FW), whereas O Frg had the lowest MDA content (0.89 mu mol MDA/g FW). The samples had varying ratios of chlorophyll a and b. The O samples had more total carotenoid content than the C samples. The antibacterial activity was only observed in the O and GAP Frd extracts. The antifungal activity could not be detected in any of the extracts of samples. Varying antimutagenic activity inSalmonella typhimuriumTA 98 strain and content of some phenolics were observed depending on the variety, growing conditions, and dose.

Investigation of Physical Activity Level and Quality of Life of School Administrators (Sample of Alanya)
(Yozgat Bozok University, 2025) Karademir, Mehmet Bilgin; Arslan, Mehmet; Or, Erden Müçteba; Ödemiş, Meriç
Developing technology and innovations in all areas of life makes daily life easier and faster. However, it is known that a sedentary lifestyle causes inactivity, and this leads to significant health problems. The aim of this study is to examine the physical activity levels and quality of life of school administrators, taking into account their demographic characteristics. A total of 110 school administrators 62 male and 48 female, working in Alanya district of Antalya city, participated in the study. The short form of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire was used to determine the physical activity levels of the participants, while the Quality of Life SF-36 scale assessed their quality of life. Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis, and Spearman correlation analysis were used to analyze the data. In the study, it was determined that the total physical activity score of the participants was 1772.3864±1465.67654 MET-min/week, and 60% of their physical activity levels were moderate. In addition, when the participants were compared based on demographic information, it was observed that physical activity levels differed only by gender (p0.05). When the demographic information of the participants was compared by gender, marital status, age, and weight status, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference in the sub-dimensions of quality of life (p0.05). In addition, a significant positive correlation was found between the participants' total physical activity scores and quality of life scores (p

Investigation of Teachers’ Self Efficieny of Educational Game Teaching: Case of Alanya
    (2023) Odemıs, Merıc; Arslan, Mehmet
In this study, it was aimed (i) to compare teachers' educational game playing self-efficacy in terms of gender, age, marital status, educational status, seniority, different branches and (ii) to examine educational game playing self-efficacy levels. General survey method was used in the research. The sample group of the study consisted of 50 physical education and sports, 50 preschool and 50 classroom teachers, totalling 150 teachers working in Alanya district. In data collection, the 'Educational Play Self-Efficacy Scale' developed by Altınkök and Yılmaz (2018) and the demographic information form were applied online via Google® forms to the individuals who voluntarily participated in the study. The data obtained from the study were analysed using IBM SPSS 25.0 statistical package programme. Since the data showed normal distribution as a result of the kurtosis and skewness test, Independent T test was used for binary variables and One Way Anova test was used for three or more variables. As a result of the findings, it was determined that there was a significant difference in the participants' educational game playing competences in terms of age, seniority and branch variables. However, no significant difference was found in terms of gender and educational status variables. In addition, while physical education and sports teachers' self-efficacy in playing educational games is better than other branch teachers, pre-school teachers' efficacy levels in the application dimension are lower than other branches. It was determined that teachers' self-efficacy for playing educational games was at a high level, but there were differences in their self-efficacy for playing educational games in terms of some variables.
