On physical examination, body temperature was 39.5 degrees C, with diffuse maculopapular rash and conjunctival hyperemia. Laboratory findings include mild anemia, profound lymphopenia, severe thrombocytopenia, severe hyponatremia, markedly elevated procalcitonin and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels, abnormal liver function tests, and severe hypocalcemia. Indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA) testing revealed positivity for both immunoglobulin M (IgM) and immunoglobulin G (IgG) against Rickettsia conorii. The patient responded well to doxycycline therapy and was discharged in good condition.
