Police and private security officers’ cooperation perception

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a difference between perceptions of mutual cooperation between police officers and private security officers. The research design, conducted within the framework of quantitative paradigm, was set as descriptive survey study. Police Private Security Cooperation Level Scale developed by Demirci (2019) was used in the survey which was the data collection tool. The population of the study includes the police officers and private security officers working at Zonguldak City. Full count sample is conducted in the study. As a result of the questionnarie, for analysis, suitable observation units from 625 police officers and 1,323 private security officers were obtained. Analysis performed on the data revealed that the difference between the perceptions of mutual cooperation between police officers and private security officers was statistically significant. It has been determined that the police officers’, working in Zonguldak, mutual cooperation perception were lower than the private security officers’ perception who work there. In addition, the results of the study indicated that the police officers’ and the private security officers’ mutual cooperation perceptions differed according to their various demographic characteristics too.

Bu araştırmanın amacı polis memurları ile özel güvenlik görevlilerinin karşılıklı işbirliği algıları arasında fark olup olmadığını tespit etmektir. Nicel paradigma çerçevesinde gerçekleştirilen araştırma betimsel tarama deseni şeklinde belirlenmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılan ankette Demirci (2019) tarafından geliştirilen Polis Özel Güvenlik İşbirliği Düzeyi Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Zonguldak ilinde görev yapan polis memurları ile özel güvenlik görevlileri oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada tam sayım örneklem kullanılmıştır. Uygulanan anket neticesinde, polis memurlarından 625, özel güvenlik görevlilerinden 1,323 analize uygun gözlem birimi elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen veri üzerinde gerçekleştirilen analiz polis memurları ile özel güvenlik görevlilerinin karşılıklı işbirliği algıları arasındaki farkın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğunu göstermiştir. Zonguldak’ta görev yapan polis memurlarının karşılıklı işbirliğine ilişkin algılarının, burada çalışan özel güvenlik görevlilerinin algılarından daha düşük olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca araştırma sonuçları polis memurları ile özel güvenlik görevlilerinin birbirleriyle işbirliği algılarının çeşitli demografik özelliklerine göre de farklılaştığına işaret etmiştir.
